Ruth Truth 20: Practicality has a place
Practical steps have a place
"Wash yourself therefore, and anoint yourself, and put on your best clothes, and go down to the threshing floor; but do not reveal yourself to the man until he has finished eating and drinking." Ruth 3:3
I love how the Bible just records everything, warts and all. And at the same time, has very practical advice.
Christians often try to spiritualise everything, as if that would make it kosher. Don't get me wrong, I am all for being led by the Spirit. But God also gave us a very practical mind for us to think for ourselves as well!
In this situation, Ruth was advised to be presentable and wait for the right TIME. In this case, after Boaz had eaten and was satisfied. In other words, not tired and hungry. She also took practical steps to wash up, put on some perfume and be presentable! There is no need to go over the top, neither is there room for complacency.
There is a right time for everything, and practical steps we can take in everything we do.
Have a great week ahead!
