The key to financial freedom - "Do not worry"

Loved watching these birds pecking on the ground! It was quite a delight just watching them.

"Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?" Matthew 6:26

Birds are such an inspiration because they always seem so carefree. Indeed, they do not store up in barns (or banks) like we do, just flitting from place to place without a care, until the odd cat comes along! 

It's been a tough year for many people so far. I am almost reluctant to quote verse 25, which essentially says do not worry, because it can sound unsympathetic and trite. But it is truth nonetheless. And indeed, the "secret" to being financially "free".

Worrying will not help because when we worry, what we are actually doing is "magnifying" or "giving weight" (doesn't that sound like worship?) to the issues or problems in our life. 

"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?" Matthew 6:24-25

So take your eyes off whatever is weighing on your shoulders, and look at some birds instead.
